Hi all!
Sorry for the lack of updates, what with planning, sorting out and going on our holiday earlier in the year (Florida including Wizarding World of Harry Potter!) and having our house on the market since, I've struggled for the art-time I crave.
ART PROJECTS - CURRENTLYI'm currently working on a relatively large digital commission which I hope to finish within the next four weeks (will post a copy on here for you guys to see). After this I plan on drawing a small Snow Leopard digital piece for Christmas.
ART PROJECTS - UPCOMINGSince we are in the process of moving, unfortunately all my traditional art stuff is in storage
I'm hoping we can get this place sold soon so that we can buy a new place and mosey on in all our stuff (hopefully one room can be devoted to a study and art room!). Once we are moved (fingers crossed by start of the new year or March), I plan on doing something a bit different.
I want to make my own Gessoboard (can't buy the stuff easily over here), will be asking for an airbrush kit for Christmas, and plan to start working on giant acrylic animal realism pieces! Starting with a tiger *rawr*; size probably around 24 x 24 inches (or slightly larger). I plan to use the airbrush for laying down the base colours (along with creating faded-out backgrounds, which will take some practice) and then going back over the piece meticulously with a little brush adding all the individual hairs. Wish me luck!
HARRY POTTER! Wizarding World of Harry Potter was excellent! It's based in Universal's Islands of Adventures. Unfortunately, due to them changing the opening date, we arrived there just days after it had opened! May sound ideal, and it was great to think we were one of the first, but the queues! We had to queue for an hour and a half just to get into the area! Then an hour and a half for the main ride, two hours for the Ollivanders shop experience
but we left with some great merchandise; two wands (one Ollivanders, one Lupin), a Pygmy Puff t-shirt (disappointed they had sold out of pygmy puffs), Marauders map in a case and Every Flavour Beans.
The theming and rides were excellent (well, two were just remakes but I always enjoyed those rides). We'll hopefully be going back in two years time when things should be much quieter! I have photos up on Facebook.
Jay was in the middle of reading the books when we went there and finished them a month or so ago. I gave in and started reading them. Whilst they started off more childlike yet fun, I am getting more addicted as I get through the series! I'm now half way through Half Blood Prince. Amazing the differences between the books and the film as you get further into the series. Not sure why they focused so much on made-up romantic scenes in the film, when the book focuses more on the nitty gritty of Tom Riddle's past!
Very excited about seeing Deathly Hallows Part 1! I will have finished reading the final book by then, so hope they do it justice, but the trailers look amazing!
